We are a volunteer organization supported through donations and grants.

Nancy Mahr, Co-President, has been a League member for over 40 years,

Margo Reeg

Co-President

Margo Reeg, Co-President, has been a member of the League of Women Voters for over 50 years, has held Whittier League offices since 1979 including several terms as President. She is passionate about Voter Service and has been VP for Voter Service for LWV-LAC board producing the Voter Guide, presenting Ballot Briefings and conducting judicial forums and interviews.She was LWV-LAC President from 2004-2006. Elections and voting rights became a major interest after attending the LWVUS Motor Voter conference in 1995.

Margo’s experience includes membership in the Registrar-Recorder’s Community Voter Outreach Committee (CVOC), Inspector at Touchscreen Early Voting sites and regular polling places and participation with the LA County Voting System Assessment Project to design the new modern voting system for LA County. Margo was a Government Director on the LWVC Board from 1995-1999 working on Campaign Finance Reform and Voting Rights. She was a member of the Election Systems Study committee. Since 2007 she has been a Consultant for LWVC on Voting Rights, analyzing bills affecting voting. She serves as a VotersEdge.org local coordinator in LA County.

Nancy Mahr

Co-President

Nancy Mahr, Co-President, has been a League member for over 40 years, serving for many years on the board of the Palos Verdes Peninsula League. During that time she has served on the LWVC board as Director of Voter Service, on the LWVUS Nominating Committee, and as President of the LWV/LA County board for 8 years. She is also the Legislation Director for the California Board of American Association of University Women. Nancy Mahr earned her BA in Political Science from Occidental College.

 She received a Teaching Credential in Social Studies and English from CSULA and a Certificate in Corporate Communications from CSULB. Nancy taught high school, including two years in Kampala, Uganda, East Africa, through a Columbia University program. From 1984 to 1995, she worked in community and governmental relations for the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District and the Palos Verdes Library District. In 1996, she became the Public Information Officer for the County of Los Angeles Public Library. Ms. Mahr retired from the County Library in 2007.
